The applied coats-of-arms of Viscount Powerscourt

Both circular, on four scroll bracket feet. The shaped border lavishly decorated with cast and pierced fruiting vines, shells, and flowers. Central chased frieze of scrolling Vitruvian acanthus, festoons, fruit, and phoenixes on a matted ground, with elements indicative of the 1707 Union of England Act.

Pictured right; cast and applied coat-of-arms of Wingfield quartering others, for Richard, 6th Viscount Powerscourt (1815-1844) of Powerscourt, co. Wicklow. Powerscourt, a British peer and Conservative Party politician, succeeded his father in the viscountcy in 1823 but, as an Irish peer, was not entitled to a seat in the House of Lords and was instead elected to the House of Commons for Bath in 1837 until 1841. Lord Powerscourt married his first cousin Lady Elizabeth Frances Charlotte, daughter of Robert Jocelyn, 3rd Earl of Roden, in 1836.

Pictured Left; cast and applied coat-of arms of Wingfield impaling Coke, for 7th Viscount Powerscourt (1836-1904) of Powerscourt, co. Wicklow, and his wife Lady Julia Coke (1844-1931), daughter of Thomas, 2nd Earl of Leicester (1822-1909), whom he married in 1864.

These opulent chargers, owned by father and son, were likely commissioned to mark the occasion of their weddings.
