A 17th Century German Gold, & Jewelled Couchant Horse and Hound Pendant, circa 1650

The main part of the pendant formed as an enamelled white couchant horse. The main body of the horse set with a band of rubies and three gold and enamelled mounted rubies formed as roses. The gold hound on the back of the horse also with a similar set rose. The chain of the pendant formed as a line of floral rubies, the top of the pendant with a demi-enamelled figure playing a mandolin. Resting on three rubies from which hangs a pendant peal suspended from a chain. The reverse of the pendant beautifully enamelled with colourful chrysanthemums of a white background.
