The square rock crystal base resting on four scrolled feet bearing cast winged maidens adorned in acanthus leaves. The four sides of the base with cherubs depicting the four seasons sitting on attributes of the seasons above lapis lazuli plaques. The base of the rock crystal cup carved with acanthus leaves and tendrils.
The main body of the rock crystal cup carved with on one side with Neptune the other with Salacia. The mounts with masks with scrolling handles supporting Neptune to one side with Demeter the goddess of agriculture to the other.

The rock crystal cover fluted and carved with interspersed tridents and dolphins supporting the cast Bacchic finial.

Although unsigned it likely that the cup is Austrian and the great 19th century makers such as Hermann Ratzersdorfer and Bőhm were producing treasures such as this marvellous example at this moment in the 19th century.
