Hemmerle

Now running in it’s fourth generation, Hemmerle is a family run jewellery house with a focus on exquisite design and craftmanship. Although the brand began in 1895, it wasn’t until 1904 when Hemmerle opened their first boutique on Maximilianstrasse, Munich’s well known shopping street, where they remain today. In 1905, Hemmerle began making the Bavarian Maximilian Order, which was first established by King Maximilian II of Bavaria and is awarded to acknowledge outstanding achievements in science and art. In 1970 Stefan Hemmerle, a trained goldsmith, and his brother Franz took over the business. They immersed themselves in the brands rich heritage and began to slowly change the house’s traditions, focussing on bringing jewels to life through their creative and realistic design. Later, in 1995, Stefan and his wife Sylveli furthered this transformation, breaking with past tradition and creating pieces of contemporary art through their jewels, though still respecting the brands exemplary workmanship. The pieces made under Stefan and Sylveli show inspiration from different cultural elements such as art, architecture and artisanship. Since 2006, the brand has been run by their son and daughter-in-law, Christian and Yasmin Hemmerle. With each jewel created in their Munich workshop, they continue to focus on exquisite quality, the use of interesting and rare gemstones and innovative material combinations, creating wonderful one-of-a-kind works of art.
