of good weight, shaped square bases on strapwork feet and octagonal stems chased with panels of strapwork, engraved with arms, marked on bases and sconces.

Son of George Kidney Citizen and Merchant Taylor deceased, apprenticed to David Willaume II 22 May 1723. No premium is stated which might have expected from the latter. Free, 8 January 1733. First mark entered as largeworker, 7 June 1734. Address: Six Bells Court, Foster Lane. Second and third marks, 15 June 1739. Address: Foster Lane. Heal (unpublished addenda) records him as assayer and plateworker in this year. Livery, April 1740. Three sons, George, Samuel and Charles are recorded in Christchurch, Newgate (and St.Leonard, Foster Lane) registers, as born to William and Rachael Kidney, 1735-8. In view of his apprenticeship it is not suprising to find a considerable feeling for somewhat exotic rococo design in cups and sauceboats, and high technical achievement in the execution of such pieces.
