Son of John Farren of Tewkesbury in the County of Gloucester maltser, apprenticed to John Denny 8 April 1695. Free, 3 October 1707. First mark entered as largeworker, 16 October 1707. Address: 'Sweeting Lane'. Second mark, 11 November 1720. Address: 'St. Swethings Lane'. Third mark, 15 June 1739. Heal records him as plateworker, Unicorn, Swithin's Lane near the Post Office, from 1703 to 1741. His name appears variously as Farrar and Farrer, but apprentice and mark entries are spelt Farren. Livery, 1721. Court, 1731. Presumably dead by 19 October 1743, the date of the entry of Ann Farren's mark. Subordinate Goldsmith to the King, 1723 - 42.
