The box with a cover featuring an oval scene from antiquity. Men in classical style military dress and statesmen-like robes, the figures gesticulating, similar to the base, the sides with four scenes featuring motherly women and babes; dressing-up and a soldier slain, the gold borders with trailing bands of fluted ovolo and garlands in rose, lemon, white and yellow gold, upon a reeded ground, similar to the sides and with swags and floral pendants, with partially rubbed maker's mark ending in "p" later struck with a Parisian restricted warranty mark for gold, 1838-1847.
