The cornucopia on hexagonal bases with a band of scrolling foliate enamelled scrolls. The hexagonal pedestal base painted with classical scenes and masks amongst scrolling acanthuses. The base rising to a knelt figure of Atlas holding the main body of the cornucopia on his shoulders. The cornucopia painted with famous roman scenes interspersed with silver bands mounted with semi-precious gems and enamel.
Hermann Böhm was a very prolific and inventive Austrian goldsmith who, together with Hermann Ratzersdorfer, spread the taste for Revivalist goldsmith's work. He studied the precious items in the Imperial Collections and the Green Vaults in Dresden and employed local artisans to work on miniature paintings, enamels and hardstone to create objects of "Rothschild" fashion for an international clientele. He is recorded as working in Vienna from 1866 until 1922.
