A Pair of incredibly Rare 16th Century Silver-gilt Mounted Carved Amber Pricket Candlesticks

Height: 29cm, 11.4 in

These extraordinary  candlesticks rest on three cup feet with scrolled bracket-mounts supporting their circular lobed bases. The bases in turn with a cross-hatched crenulated band. The stems turned with elongated lobed flutes separate in the middle by a globe-shaped knop. The capitals formed in amber with a silver-gilt crenulated band supporting a disc with a silver-gilt pricket to the centre.
